French artist (1921-1998)
César Baldaccini is considered the forerunner of electronic art. He joined the New Realist group alongside his friend Arman with whom he is often associated. After great welded figures, he was inspired to move onto hydraulically pressed cars and present them as sculptures under the title “Compressions”. Internationally acclaimed for his sculpture, César also drew extensively.
