A singular and original artist, Sylvie Koechlin sculpts directly from uncut stone. After working in advertising illustration at the end of the 1970s, Sylvie Koechlin met sculptor Coutelle with whom she learnt how to carve stone directly. She is inspired by nature and the four key elements: fire, water, earth and air. Her approach is to reveal the interior tensions of a living shape from within an immobile block, through subtle variations and movements in light on the surface.
