Webster Watson Colin
New Zealand artist
Better known as “Colin”, artist Colin Webster Watson was born in New Zealand where he spent most of his childhood. As a travel enthusiast, he spent a long time working in a variety of fields, more particularly dance and theatre. Then he turned towards sculpture because, for him, it represented the means of creating concrete and palpable works with a certain staying power. Initially he was inspired by Greco-Roman art; he later focussed on Picasso and his paintings.
He began his sculpting career in Rome and since then he has been a part of a great many exhibitions all over Europe, in London, Paris and Rome. He is also widely acclaimed in the United States where his work is very often exhibited. All of his designs are inspired by sea animals and mythological creatures. From his dancing years he has retained his passion for flowing movement and sensuality.
