The monk with a golden bag is the “laughing Buddha”, a corpulent monk whose sack is never empty – a symbol of happiness and prosperity. The piece from the Cernuschi Museum is here interpreted by Daum in amber and green - colour of hope – crystal and is standing upon an optical crystal base.
